Who says sister lines don't share recipes? Taking a page off Celebrity Cruises' menu, Royal Caribbean has introduced seven new specialty dining packages available on four of its ships.
RCI's new packages are currently being offered on Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Radiance of the Seas and Splendour of the Seas. (Radiance and Splendour now feature several restaurants that debuted on the Oasis-class duo, thanks to recent massive refits.) At this time, there's no set date for expansion of the dining packages to additional ships.

Onboard Gourmet Dining
Cruising has always been a great vacation value with room, food and activities included upfront.
Major cruise lines have added upscale or unique dining experiences for an extra cost. Cruise prices have stayed relatively the same, and these additional onboard revenues are definitely adding to the bottom line profits of the major cruise lines - Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian.
Of course cruisers do not have to spend additional money to have a great cruising experience, but you do need to know many of the onboard restaurants do come with an addtional charge.
Carnival's Steakhouses - Each ship has a different name for the Steakhouses which all offer superb steaks, veal chops, lobster, fish of the day, lamb chops and other enticing entrees. The cost is $30 per person - and you should note some of the entrees are not included in the cost.
Royal Caribbean - Allure of the Seas features a whopping 26 dining options, and 12 incur an additional charge. 150 Central Park (shown above) restaurant on Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas has a $40 per person cover.
Norwegian Dawn - Brazilian steakhouse for an additional $20 charge.
Disney Dream - Remy gourmet restaurant with a $75 per person charge - and that does not include alcohol.
Celebrity Cruise - Qsine onboard Celebrity Silhouette, Celebrity Eclipse, Celebrity Summit and Celebrity Infinity with a $35 - $40 cover charge.
Crystal Cruises - Both Crystal Serenity and Symphony have Silk Road and the Sushi Bar with a $7 per person service charge for both.
Holland America - The Pinnacle Grill on the entire fleet with a $10 cover charge for lunch, and $25 for dinner. Kids priced at $12.50.

Hurtigruten Early Booking Savings 2012-2013 Antarctica
Guests Booking by Dec. 31, 2011, Receive up to 20% off- Loyalty Club Members - Enjoy Additional 5% Off & Exclusive Perks
Guests can enjoy early booking savings of up to 20% on five exciting Antarctic exploration voyages offered by award-winning cruise company, Hurtigruten, if booked by Dec. 31, 2011.
These once-in-a-lifetime voyages, aboard the purpose-built expedition ship MS Fram, explore the vast and mysterious wilderness of the White Continent, the coldest, driest and windiest destination on earth.
The size of the ship allows guest a more intimate experience - leaning on its rails as gleaming icebergs pass by, taking in blue whales and orcas feeding nearby, and standing near penguin populations whose individual rookeries number in the tens of thousands.
Reduced pricing for the 10- to 19-day, Nov. 2012 through Feb. 2013 sailings range from $5,567 to $13,719 per person, double, and includes accommodation in cabin or suite of choice; flights between Ushuaia and Buenos Aires; Ushuaia transfers; all meals onboard; expert guides and lecturers; wind and water-resistant coat; and numerous PolarCirkel boat landings.
The 17-day "Christmas Expedition" celebrates the season with traditional carols, festive meals, Santa Claus visits and a New Year's gala as guests travel round-trip from Buenos Aires on a route that navigates the western-most outposts of the Falkland Islands, South Georgia Island and several ports in Antarctica. Prices for the Dec. 17 departure range from $8,257 to $13,719 with savings.
The 13-day "Polar Circle Expedition" and the shorter 10-day "Classic Expedition" focus solely on Antarctica, sailing through the Drake Passage to landings that immerse guests in the remote landscape and exotic wildlife of The White Continent. The "Polar Circle Expedition" spends its extra days traveling as far south as the Antarctic Circle, departing Feb. 1, 2013 with discounted prices of $7,366 to $12,743. Reduced rates for the "Classic Expedition" range from $5,567 to $9,814 for five departures between Nov. 29 and Jan. 11.
The 13-day "Weddell Sea Expedition" follows the path forged by British Captain James Weddell, who reached 74º latitude in 1823 - a first for explorations, and resulted in scientific discoveries that covered extensive ground in biology, zoology, geology, meteorology and magnetism. Priced with savings, the Jan. 20 sailing is $7,366 to $12,743.
Guests on the 19-day "In the Realm of the Great Explorers" explore the same areas visited by Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton, a prominent figure during the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. In addition to Antarctica, the voyage takes in the sub-Arctic ecosystem of the Falkland Islands, and South Georgia, home to the largest king penguin colony in the world. The Feb. 22 departure date offers reduced prices from $5,940 to $11,618.
Hurtigruten's MS Fram accommodates 318 guests (allowing no more than 200 for the Antarctica sailings) in suites and staterooms and features a restaurant, two bars, panoramic lounges library, an Internet café and conference rooms. The early-booking savings can be combined with discounts available in the 1893 Ambassador Program, Hurtigruten's customer loyalty program, which includes 5% off Explorer Voyages to Antarctica in addition to exclusive discounts and recognition benefits for members.
Hurtigruten is a world leader in expedition cruising, sailing to the most remote of destinations including Antarctica, Greenland and the Arctic's Spitsbergen as well as year round along Norway's coast and Europe in the spring and fall. The company's fleet of 13 intimate ships, carrying 100 to 646 passengers, allows passengers to enjoy unique destinations in a relaxed atmosphere.

New Disney Fantasy AquaLab
Disney Fantasy is slated to make its Florida debut in April 2012 after its maiden voyage on March 31.
Fantasy will feature 14 towering decks, a ship length of 1,115 feet and a maximum width of 125 feet, the 128,000-ton vessel includes 1,250 staterooms and has the capacity to comfortably accommodate 4,000 passengers.
The Disney Fantasy's AquaLab is a new 1,800 square foot water play area on deck 12, near the entrance to the AquaDuck water coaster.
As the story goes, AquaLab was created by Donald Duck’s nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie, and features a variety of water “experiments” designed to drench the whole family.
Disney Fantasy guests will be left in charge as the nephews are away, but left with instructions to "control" the speed and water temperature of the AquaDuck by turning wheels and moving levers.
Also on deck 12 forward is a wading pool with a fountain water feature, ample seating and lounge chairs under canopy offer a respite in the shade.
Exclusively for Adults
In addition to Quiet Cove Pool and Cove Bar on the Disney Fantasy, a new adult-exclusive area offers a retreat on the upper decks for guests 18 and older.
At Satellite Sun Deck on deck 13 forward a brand-new water feature called Satellite Falls is a circular splash pool with benches and a rain curtain.

On Sunday, November, 13, 2011, set to the backdrop of the spectacular new Carnival Magic from Pier 21, thousands of fans of Maroon 5 and Carnival will be treated to a free, ticketed concert by the multi-platinum group the day before the new vessel sets sail on its inaugural U.S. voyage.

Celebrity Cruises Raises Funds & Awareness for Breast Cancer Research
Celebrity Cruises has entered into a partnership with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) to help raise awareness and funds. Kicking off the effort was the sale of tickets to a two-night cruise experience aimed at culinary enthusiasts. The sale was curated by leading local experience site, Gilt City, and sold out in a few hours.
“All of our Solstice-class godmothers have been breast cancer survivors who have accomplished great things,” said Dan Hanrahan, president and CEO, Celebrity Cruises. “Now, we hope to play a small part in not only honoring these remarkable women, but also in changing the landscape of the field of breast cancer research, by raising money for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, one of the world’s leading breast cancer non-profits with a mission that offers hope for a future without breast cancer.”
Celebrity offers different ways its guests can help support BCRF. The cruise line will donate $2 from the sale of each copy of its lifestyle book, “Excite The Senses,” in October, and also will donate $3 per sale of a non-alcoholic pink cocktail onboard. Also, the line will auction off hand-blown of pieces from its glass-blowing show on three Solstice-class ships, with proceeds to go to BCRF.
The first activity to go public was a Gilt City sale of tickets to a two-day cruise package on Celebrity Silhouette, during its stateside debut in New Jersey in November. With a $700 donation from each package to go to BCRF, Celebrity Cruises will donate a minimum of $50,000. Tickets were $900 per couple and include all meals, cocktails and wine.

NCI Picks New York Port for Latest Ship
Norwegian Cruise Line's next ship, the Norwegian Breakaway, has picked New York as its home port.
The 4,000-passenger Norwegian Breakaway will be the largest cruise ship ever to home port in the city - and modifications will have to be made to the terminal.
This is a big boost to New York as it will bring approximately 70,000 additional visitors and also create restaurant, retail and hotel jobs. Nearly half of cruisers sailing out of New York spend an average of two nights in the city as part of their vacation.
Norwegian Breakaway initially will sail from New York to Bermuda, with 22 week-long voyages to the destination scheduled between May 2013 and October 2013. The ship's itineraries beyond Oct 2013 have not been released.
Breakaway joins the 2,394-passenger Norwegian Gem, which also sails year-round out of New York.

7 Night Exotic Eastern Caribbean Halloween Singles Cruise
Get ready for Halloween!
Single travelers are invited to reserve their spot on the upcoming 7-night Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Liberty departing Miami, Florida on October 29, 2011 and sailing to Half Moon Cay, Bahamas; St. Thomas, USVI; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos.
“Our theme party and costume contest are definitely a highlight of our Halloween cruise,” explained Shelby Bergeron, SinglesCruise.com’s lead program director.
“This cruise is our most popular singles cruise sailing of the year because our Halloween events add yet another fun element to our exciting on-board program.
Each year, this particular cruise attracts hundreds of single travelers from around the country who look forward to the high energy of the guests, outrageous costumes and overall festive atmosphere.”
The SinglesCruise.com's hosts’ top five tips for becoming an instant celebrity onboard and taking home the contest prize of a $100 SinglesCruise.com gift certificate:
1. Be extremely creative with your costume – something you buy at a costume store won’t likely win the prize. Most of our past winners have made their own costumes and are one of a kind. We especially like the imaginative outfits that we have to figure out. One of our favorites last year was a suave traveler dressed as a chick magnet – a black suit with yellow chicks all over it!
2. Try to make us laugh. The funnier and more outrageous the costume, the more chances you will win our vote. One of our past creative guests came as “The Man with the Yellow Hat” of the popular Curious George children’s books series complete with the big yellow hat and stuffed monkey by his side.
3. Act the part. You will earn points for staying in character throughout the party. For example, several of our past winners came as the walking dead bride and groom and their scary zombie act throughout the party was what made them the winners. They walked around from person to person gazing at each one with their intense zombie eyes. Another favorite was a decked-out Michael Jackson impersonator with a near perfect moonwalk.
4. Grab our attention by playing off an emerging trend or current event. If you do this well, you will stand out from other partygoers donning standard costumes that have been worn over and over again.
5. Fool us. If we don’t know who you are yet we can see your face, it adds a sense of mystery and intrigue to your persona. Costume make-up can really change your facial expressions and applied well might earn you first place.

Passengers Have Lack of Enthusiasm for Cruiselines Private Islands
A recent poll at Cruise Critic (www.cruisecritic.com) set out to determine what they thought of the various private beaches, private islands, and phony port cities that the cruise
lines are busily throwing up all over the Caribbean.
The results weren't favorable to these artificial communities.
46% of the persons polled responded that they had either never heard of or never experienced a private island, private beach or phony port, which means they never really felt the need for such a facility.
Nearly 37% responded that they regarded these artificial facilities as "cheesy," something they could do without. The near-30% went on to say that they preferred going to a "real" port.
Only a small 24% opined that they enjoyed these newly-built stops, and a tiny six percent said they liked them but only for the shopping options they provided.

Ship Mate Mobile Cruise App
The Ship Mate mobile app was developed to extend and enhance the cruise experience . . .
Our motto is “Don’t wait to start your cruise” and our goal is to engage users months before and after setting foot on their ship.
In general, cruisers book their vacations six months before setting sail and Ship Mate provides the opportunity to start exploring their ship and ports, meeting their fellow cruisers, and preparing to have an amazing vacation, immediately.
Ship Mate brings cruise planning, port content and a social network to mobile
P.S. I like the concept - they need to change voice on app

Voyages of Discovery Adds mv Voyager to Fleet
Carrying just 550 passengers, mv Voyager offers a choice of 278 cabins, 30 of which have balconies, open seating dining in two restaurants plus an intimate pre-bookable restaurant - and a range of large cruise ship facilities with small ship convenience.
Like mv Discovery, the small size of mv Voyager means that the ship is able to access remote, out of the way ports – essential for the Voyages of Discovery destination-led cruise offerings.
mv Voyager will commence her maiden voyage in November 2012 with a full Caribbean, Central and South American program, including a cruise of the Amazon.
At the same time, mv Discovery will be undergoing an extensive refurbishment during a three-month dry dock period, including the addition of teak decking, expansion of public areas, cabin improvements, updated furnishing and developments to dining areas.

Cruisers Have More Options - At A Cost
Seeking to give passengers more choices, cruise lines have expanded on-board options and the additional costs that sometimes go with them.
Carnival Magic features pub with a private label beer and a la carte pricing for food, and a for-fee Italian restaurant.
Norwegian Dawn features a Brazilian steakhouse that costs an additional $20 - and has been popular on the line’s newest ship, Epic.
The Disney Dream, Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, includes a $75-a-person gourmet restaurant (alcohol not included) called Remy.
Celebrity Silhouette (shown) offers new $149-a-sea-day cabanas in the Lawn Club area that previously held only grass, as well as an interactive grill. The price for that new restaurant has already increased from $30 to $40.
Royal Caribbean's 5,400-passenger Allure of the Seas, features 26 dining options. Of those, 12 come at an additional charge. Other extra-fee options on Allure range from a Starbucks to cupcake shop to Chef’s Table, a fine dining-and-drinking experience for $95 a person — an increase in recent months from $75.
